Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Product - Highly Recommended I have been building my dream home theater system and that is the primary reason I wanted to experience the BOSE SoundTouch 300 soundbar. I recently purchased a new 55” ROKU television and was now looking to begin adding additional items to continue building my dream home theater system. I have been using various Bose products for approximately 35 years – so I felt that if it was from Bose it would meet all my expectations – and it did. However, I researched various soundbars in order to reach an informed-decision of which soundbar I felt would best fit my personal requirements and lifestyle - both current and future. Working with a certain budget in mind, the two comparably-priced, high-quality soundbars I liked best were the Bose SoundTouch 300 and the Sonos PLAYBAR. However, the Bose SoundTouch 300, in my opinion, takes top honors because it is jam-packed with just about every current feature and technology a person could possibly desire – plus designed to grow with you on into the future. The Sonos lacks 4K video compatibility, lacks Bluetooth connectivity, lacks HDMI inputs/outputs, lacks an Ethernet port, lacks USB connectivity, etc. The Bose, on the other hand, is not lacking in any way – and the sound is unparalleled. I was a bit concerned when I looked at the first page of the quick-start guide and saw that it said to place the soundbar at least 1-3 feet away from other wireless equipment. That was a concern for me because my new 55” ROKU television is connected via Wi-Fi to my Internet router. However, I experienced no problems upon placement of the soundbar a mere six inches away from my television. I am very satisfied with the features of the Bose SoundTouch 300 soundbar. It is built with every imaginable feature and technology a person could want, plus includes a universal remote that makes switching between various sources a breeze. I love that the soundbar includes both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, plus offers HDMI inputs/outputs. I really love how easy it is to calibrate the soundbar to your room – you simply put on the ADAPTiQ headphones and the soundbar speaks to you as it fine-tunes the system's sound to your room. One moment I might be using the soundbar for my television and the next moment I'm using the soundbar to listen to streaming music. All done easily with the touch of a button with the included remote. Something I really love about Bose is that they make sophisticated products, but you don't have to be a professional to use their products. My only complaint is minor in nature – included in the box is a quick-start guide that I do not feel is adequate for setup of an elaborate, highly-sophisticated home theater system. However, using the online user manual, setup then becomes quick and easy. I have several friends who are either high-end audio/video enthusiasts, professional sound engineers and/or recording artists – individuals I know who have high-expectations. I am so impressed with this soundbar that I have already recommended this to many of these friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Soundbar!!! First of all I was a bit nervous to set this up thinking it was going to be a bit difficult. To my surprise it was one of the easiest things I have ever done. I live in a apartment and not to big of a living room, so I started with the headset which was super fun to do, after that I was set and ready to go, it basically did everything itself, and the sound was so AWESOME!!! I download the app to my kindle fire and with a press of the button on the remote it started playing my favorite music!! I would recommend this to anyone who likes music and watch movies with great sound. I have also asked my neighbors if they can hear it when I turned the sound up and they have all said no, but I hear it perfectly. Love this soundbar very much!!

FAQs

Is the speaker compatible with products from the Bose Home Speaker family?

The products cannot be grouped together through a Bose app. SoundTouch products use the SoundTouch app, while the Bose Home Speaker family uses the Bose Music app. However, Apple device owners can use Apple AirPlay 2 to group the SoundTouch 300 soundbar with Bose Home Speaker family products for multi-room synchronised playback. Apple AirPlay 2 requires a Wi-Fi connection.

Can the SoundTouch 300 soundbar be mounted on a wall?

Yes. The optional WB-300 wall bracket let you mount the SoundTouch 300 flush to the wall.

How do I connect a Bluetooth device with the SoundTouch 300 soundbar using NFC?

Select the Bluetooth source on the remote (or via the app). Ensure that your mobile device has NFC turned on. Gently tap the device near the Bose logo on the top of the SoundTouch 300 and your device will automatically pair.

How do I connect a Bluetooth device with the SoundTouch 300 soundbar without using NFC?

Press and hold the Bluetooth source button on the remote for several seconds until the light begins to flash. Ensure that your mobile device is in pairing mode and select the SoundTouch 300. You also can pair your mobile device to the SoundTouch 300 using the SoundTouch app. In the app, find the SoundTouch 300 in the device tray, select “explore” and then select Bluetooth. On your mobile device, select the SoundTouch 300.

What kind of batteries does the remote control use?

The remote uses 4 alkaline AA batteries.

How does the SoundTouch 300 soundbar connect to a TV?

The simplest way to connect the SoundTouch 300 is via an HDMI™ cable to your TV. If your TV has an HDMI-ARC connection, you should use that connection. If your TV does not have an HDMI connection, then you should connect the SoundTouch 300 to the TV using an optical cable.

What placement guidelines should be considered to ensure optimal audio performance from the SoundTouch 300 soundbar?

The SoundTouch 300 uses the reflective surfaces of the room to deliver a spacious home cinema experience. To ensure optimal audio performance, the soundbar should be placed equidistant from each side wall and directly in front-centre of the TV. No objects should be placed on either side of the soundbar and it should not be placed inside a cabinet, as this will result in a limited sound stage.

Can source devices, such as a cable box, iPod, gaming system, etc., be connected directly to the SoundTouch 300 soundbar?

Yes. For the simplest connection, you should connect all sources to the TV and then connect the TV to the SoundTouch 300 via HDMI-ARC. If your TV does not have enough open HDMI ports, you can disconnect one source from a TV HDMI slot, then connect the SoundTouch 300 to that open HDMI port. Then, connect that source to the soundbar and use the “pass-through” capability of the SoundTouch 300.

Can I control the bass?

Yes. Bass can be controlled via the bass button on the universal IR remote control or via the settings menu in the SoundTouch app.

Do I need a separate receiver with the SoundTouch 300 soundbar?

No. The system connects directly to your TV.

Is the SoundTouch 300 soundbar compatible with 4K video?

Yes, this system will pass through Ultra High Definition 4K video from a source device to the TV at 60 frames per second (FPS).

Does the SoundTouch 300 soundbar have a headphone output?

No.

Can I use the SoundTouch presets with the SoundTouch 300 soundbar?

Yes, like other SoundTouch systems, the SoundTouch 300 uses presets via the SoundTouch app and the remote control.

Does the SoundTouch 300 soundbar have Bluetooth and NFC built in?

Yes.

Does the speaker support AirPlay?

Yes. Apple AirPlay 2 compatibility allows access to Apple Music and other music services via a Wi-Fi connection.

What accessories are available for the SoundTouch 300 soundbar?

If you want to add deeper bass to your soundbar, then you can add on the optional Bose Bass Module 700 or Bose Bass Module 500. If you want to have a more immersive surround sound experience, you can add the optional Bose Surround Speakers. And of course, if you want the full 5.1 experience, you can add them both.
